The joy of seeing other people's joy
Since my grandparents are ageing and since I've got all the time of my life, mum & I decided to fulfill my granparents' wish for a visit at Cameron Highlands.
Kickstarted our journey at 5am with much anticipation from my grandpa & a "I need more sleep" look from me. The whole journey, we were all entertained by my grandma's rambling abt living with her daughter in-law. I tell u, despite her age, she's still as loud & as "tigerous" as 5 men combined.
The road to Cameron was windy & most of the time, I dozed off like a baby. There's limited things to see up there. A lot of stawberry farms but very little stawberries, tea plantantion, rose gardens & a string of sellers tt need to polish their persuasion skills. I think most ppl like to go Cameron Highlands for its cool breeze. My mum was like, "See girl, it's Melbourne!" while waving her hands in the sky. It's not.
We were continually thankful tt we decided not to stay overnight. Stopped by at Tanjung Malim, a small town in Perak to give my grandaunty a surprise visit. Really, the occassional (by occassional, I mean once every 3yrs or so) visit of distant relatives never fails to remind me of my root & upbringing.
After 8hrs of sitting in the car with a soar bum & strain knees, I announced that, "Cameron Highlands is the sorta place tt u only need to go once in yr lifetime." And gong-gong nodded. Although it was tiring, to see the joy in my grandparents face, it was enough to overcome any possible boredom.
